The University of Florida Symphonic Band & Concert Bands

The University of Florida Symphonic Band is 2nd band on campus, designed to train performers that aspire to play in the UF Wind Symphony. The ensemble is mostly comprised of undergraduate music majors, though it is open to non-majors as well, by audition. In the Fall semesters, the ensemble typically contains 80+ performers. In the Spring semesters, the ensemble is closer to 60 performers, as many non-majors elect to join the Concert Bands instead. The symphonic band rehearses for 110 minutes twice a week and typically performs 3 concerts per semester.

The University of Florida offers 2 band sections of Concert Band in the Spring Semesters- Monday/Wednesday Band & Tuesday/Thursday Band. Nearly all of the 90+ students involved in each of the ensembles are pursuing degrees not related to music, but are still looking for an opportunity to play in an ensemble. Many of the ensemble members are also members of the Gator Marching Band. The Concert Bands rehearse for 110 minutes each twice per week and perform 2 concerts per semester.
